Our Impact

To date, Lucy’s Heart Rocks have found their way to over 900 souls. This gift of love began on an ordinary day hike when Susan looked down at the trail and saw the most perfectly formed heart shaped rock. This changed it all. She felt it was a message or sign of love from Lucy…this one moment began a journey of searching for that reminder of love everywhere she went, and the full circle moment began when she realized how wonderful sharing that love with others would be.

“Receiving a heart shaped rock feels like a quiet little message from Lucy. A reminder that love is all around, even in the most unexpected places. It’s a gentle, grounding moment that brings a sense of connection and peace, as if nature itself is offering comfort, joy and a hug! The rocks I have received will always have a special place in my flower garden.”

“When I received three of Lucy’s Heart Rocks, it felt like more than just stones-it was a quiet reminder that love endures and finds us just when we need it most.  Receiving the rocks was such a beautiful, unexpected moment of connection-a little piece of hope and love landing right in my hands.  I reminded me that even in the middle of life’s heaviness, there are still gentle signs that we’re not alone.  Lucy’s story and the kindness behind this gift truly shows that healing can come in small, unexpected ways.  Her light truly lives on through every heart rock sent out into the world.”

“While I only met Lucy a time or two, I knew both of her parents.  I was sitting in church when our pastor made an announcement about the accident.  I sat there in shock, not knowing what to do.  I couldn’t wrap my mind around losing a child.  I still can’t.  Before Lucy left her earthly body, she gave life to others because of her parent’s decision to donate her organs to those needing a bit of Lucy to live.  What an impact and that continues to live on.  When Susan decided to start collecting Lucy Heart Rocks, I thought, ‘oh that’s cool’.  But….then I begin to think of Lucy and her legacy when I see a heart out in nature.  I’m blessed to have received one of Lucy’s Heart Rocks and have it sitting on my desk where I see it every day.  It makes me think of how very precious life is and of the gift Lucy left behind.  Thank you Susan and thank you Lucy.”

“My husband and I lost our beloved pet at the age of 14.  We were gifted two heart rocks from Lucy’s Heart Rocks with a special note.  It meant so much to us to have the special rocks.  We loved Lucy and still care deeply for her family.  I am in awe of the love that is sent to others in the form of these special rocks, and we feel honored to have the two we were gifted.  The thoughts and love shared with others through the rocks is a true blessing!  Thanks for thinking of us with the special heart rocks.”

“Lucy’s Heart Rock Project has blessed my family in many ways.  2 years ago my mom went through a Quadruple Bypass surgery and after her recovery I asked about receiving a heart rock from my dear friend Susan.  The small box soon appeared and that lil heart shaped rock brought so much love and hope for recovery!  Skip forward 2 years later, and our family experienced a major loss as our son and his wife had a stillborn at 37 weeks.  Our sweet lil grandson, Witten took his first breath in heaven.  Grief was hard-who am I kidding, it’s still hard.  But once again I reached out to my dear friend who had journeyed this trough road of grief.  Once again a box appeared and these sweet heart rocks that I held in my hand made me feel like we were not alone in this walk of grief!  Thank you Lucy’s Heart Rocks for your outpouring of love and hope that came in that lil box.”

Many Thanks, Sandy McDaniel.

Lucy’s Heart Rock Project shows strength, meaning, love, peace, and survival, of the grief process.  As a social worker, bereavement counselor, I highly recommend, sponsoring one of Lucy’s Heart Rocks for someone.  Susan began feeling a connection finding heart rocks which lead to a mission and a tribute to her beautiful daughter Lucy.  Every heart rock she found, she mailed it to a friend.  Susan connected these heart rocks to any and everyone who had been a part of her life after her unbelievable loss.  Susan mailed them, with a thought, to continue Lucy’s legacy.  If you receive one, it was a magical gift.  Through this mission, Susan has been able to find peace, while honoring her daughter.  Her friends, have also felt a tremendous love for Susan and her journey.”

One day as I was scrolling on Facebook I came across a beautiful lady and her handsome man beginning to start sailing and it caught my attention. I live on an island and have a mermaid soul myself, so I just loved her vibe! I started following her and came across a post where they were collection heart shape rocks and I was even more intrigued! I continued to read through her post to find the meaning behind these rocks. Her precious Lucy. It got me all in my feels and I mourned for her loss and fell in love with the legacy and way she continues to keep her memory alive through this ministry. We started communicating on stories and posts and one day I checked my mail and there was a beautiful package for me with heart shaped rocks. I felt so much gratitude and felt so honored to receive this gift. I have her with my favorite seashell; a sand dollar and a seahorse at the base of my mermaid sculpture. It gives me so much peace and happiness and now I’m always on the lookout for them myself! Through Lucy I’ve found an amazing new friend who I connect with deeply in my soul.

Stories of Love

Lucy was a little girl who matched her name.

She was sunshine and rainbows and horses and the front seat of a roller coaster kind of a girl.
She was cinnamon toast and glitter nail polish with a style of her own that found it’s place somewhere between boho and rubber boots.

Lucy was laughter and rubber boots, cinnamon toast and glitter. A 7-year-old light who gifted life to seven others—and left her mother Susan searching for peace under open skies.

— Lucy’s Story

One of Her Gifts

To the world was that of LIFE to 7 organ recipients. Despite her beautiful gift of life, which brought Susan much peace, the new and unfamiliar darkness that surrounded her was immense and felt like a heavy musty mildew sky. The only space Susan could find peace was in the outdoors close to the stars in which she felt Lucy spoke to her. While the stars slept, Susan found solace in hiking miles upon miles all the while attempting to sort out her heart and her mind.

On a particular day of heavy posture breaking grief, Susan looked down at the red dirt trail and saw the most perfectly formed rock in the shape of a heart. She picked it up; smiled big and looked up at the heavens and said, “I know you’re still with me girl”.out her heart and her mind.

One day the Spirit spoke

To Susan and then she knew these heart rocks belonged to Mother Nature and the world and that they
should be passed on with love so that others could feel the immense joy and peace that Lucy’s Heart Rocks brought to her. While on this long and dirty journey of grief, Susan learned to find peace, solace and comfort in nature and so she set out to share
her little secret with others.
If this heart rock has found its way to YOU; it has been sent with a mother’s enduring love for her daughter and as a reminder that
the lack of physical presence does not mean the end of that love.
